I own a ibm thinkpad 600 and it will not see my ir port on my axim. I know my axim ir works, because I have transfered files to a palm visor and also a toshiba PPC.

I would think my ir is bad on the ibm, but I have a thinkpad at work and it doesn't work with the axim either.

Is there a compatability issue with the thinkpads?

Are you sure that your IR port on your IBM is enabled in ActiveSync to connect to your Poclet PC?

What OS does your Thinkpad use? NT4 will not use the IR port. I set my Thinkpad up as dual boot between NT4 and XP so I can use USB and IR for my Pocket PC when needed.

Running Windows 95. That is why I can't use my usb cable. Anyways, I don't have ActiveSync on the thinkpad. I was just tryiing to beam a pocket word file to the ibm.

So, should I load Active Sync and try to use the IRport to sync them?

You should be able to beam the file without AS installed however it will still be in Pocket Word format. Ideally you would need to covert it for the desktop.

I think IR is supported in W95 although I can't remember. Check your control panel for IR and if it exists, ensure the port is enabled.
