...and maybe this has been answered before. Also, Forums Moderator, please feel free to move this to a more appropriate forum [as though I needed to give you permission. :D ].

Here is the question:

What is the difference between MultiMediaCards and SD Cards?

The reason I ask is that I have just bought a Nokia 3650 and it apparently uses MultiMediaCards. I have a PDA and a couple of 256Mb SD Cards. Are they interchangeable?

That is all.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You can use a MMC in an SD slot, but not an SD card in an MMC slot.

Basically, a Secure Digital card is an MultiMediaCard "plus". But Secure Digital slots are backwards compatible with MMC's

So, basically, I need to buy another card?

Thank you for your speedy response, btw. :)

Most likely. However, I don't have first-hand experience. I would think that it wouldn't hurt to try the SD card in the MMC slot and see what happens, but I wouldn't hold my breath, and I can't *promise* that you won't hurt the card/device, though I wouldn't think you would.

If the slot is only MMC, you won't get the SD-card in, because it to fat :-)

There are MMC devices that will support SD memory cards, but typically the manufacterer will tell you when it's possible. For example, the Casio EM500 advertises itself as a PPC with MMC slot, when in fact it will support SD memory.

OK then....I'll keep you all posted. But I need to point out that I bought it today, but I won't get it until Wed, Thurs, or Fri...so you'll have to wait until then to find out. Or until I find out a definative answer prior to that.
