Security on a gprs connection

Seeing that I could be online the whole day by being connected to the net via a gprs connection I start to ask myself how secure this connection would be. Somebody could argue that because all drivers of a Pocket PC are in ROM it should be (almost) impossible to hack into your system and install a trojan or something similar. On the other side I know that nothing is impossible. What are your thoughts on this ? Are there any firewalls for Pocket PC available ?
