Hello!

I've got my Axim on monday and I am very satisfied with it, BUT...
the statusbar of the backup-battery seems to be absolutely unreliable.

The statusbar of the backup-battery shows capacities of 100%, 70%, 30% and even 0% (!) after starting the Axim while the capacity of the main-battery is about 90% all the time (just to remember: I have got the Axim 3 days ago, I charged it for over 4 hours at the beginning and charged it during the pasted 3 days for some hours)

Does anyone have similiar problems? Does it depend on the software (PPC 2002) or do I have to ask Dell to exchange the Axim because of defect hardware?

Thank you for your answers.
Stefan

This has been a long standing problem. It is not a hardware defect. It has something to do with the software Dell wrote for the backup battery. For the most part I would not worry about it. The ROM update Dell put out should help this problem if it is not installed already. Go HERE (http://support.dell.com/FileLib/Format.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&Category=0&OS=PPC&OSL=EN&SvcTag=&SysID=PDA_AXIM_X5&DeviceID=4434&Type=&ReleaseID=R59756) if you don't have it.

Thank you for your help!

I have done the update to version A03 yesterday without problems and now the statusbar is working fine.

Thanks a lot again!
