I currently have a Sony Clie that has been pretty good... One thing I can't stand about it is that if I don't use it for a few days, the battery is drained and I lose all of my data.. Does the Axim have this? I had a Palm before the Clie and it didn't do this. Also, I'm looking at the two X5's and I was just wondering if it's worth the extra $100 for the 400mhz unit? Finally, are there more games available for Pocket PC's over palms? Definately not the only thing I want to do with it, but they are nice when I am bored at work....
One more thing.. the main reason I am looking at the Axim is for the wireless capabilites.. I want to be able to surf the internet and check e-mail w/ my PDA using my wireless phone.. is this reliable and is this a good unit.
Thanks!!! Sorry for all the newbie questions!

If you drain the battery on any Pocket PC, you will lose any data on the internal storage RAM. One thing you might find nice about the Dell is that is has ROM you can install programs to, so even if you lose all the stuff in RAM, the programs will remain in ROM. But considering the long battery life of the Axim, I doubt you'll be worrying about draining the battery very much.
And I definitely think the 400mhz and extra RAM is really worth the extra money. The processor speed will definitely be helpful if you run intensive applications, especially once optimizations come out for the X-Scale processor (if they ever do). And the 32MB extra RAM will be incredibly helpful. You may think you can get by with a storage card, which you can, but the 64MB internal RAM is much better than 32MB internal.
As for games, I don't know about the number of games. However, I know that Pocket PC games are infinitely better than games for the Palm. The graphics, gameplay, variety, and fun-ness of Pocket PC games is great. To name a few, there's Snails (a PPC version of Worms), Age of Empires, Sim City, Everquest, and a lot more. And a lot better than Palm. :D
And you should be just fine surfing the web with your wireless phone and the Axim. From what I hear, the Axim is a great unit. You shouldn't have any problems.

The Axim has a backup battery so even if you DO let the battery drain all the way down you won't lose all your data right away.
However, the battery does not drain very quickly while not in use. In fact even when it IS in use, it doesn't drain quickly! You can expect a few days to a week of battery life with moderate use, though I charge mine every night just cause I can. But if I go away for a few days, it's nice to not have to worry about bringing a charger for it.
As for whether you can connect it to your cell phone to surf the web, that's possible, what kind of phone do you have?

The Axim has excellent battery life, and a dedicated 2032 backup battery - I've left a unit sitting for two weeks and the main battery still held it's charge, so you have little to fear here (unless you're planning on leaving it for over a month without being charged).
Get the 400 mhz Axim for one simple reason: it has a massive 21.24 MB Flash ROM, which gives you the equivalent of 85 MB of RAM. The extra speed is nice too. :-)
In terms of wireless, it's solid with both WiFi and Bluetooth.

Thanks for all of the replies guys!
Right now I have a Nokia 8265... I think if I decide to get the Axim and get on the internet I am gonna have to get another phone. I know the Nokia 6340i will work well for this.. I might also get a Motorola V60ti... Luckily I work for Cingular so I can get ahold of whatever phone we offer for cheap..
