As I said in another thread, I am a newbie. I have an IPAQ 3970 that I bought a few days ago. I am trying to find the best softwares and install on my PPC. But I have some problems with installing some of the softwares. I will try to explain my problem with some pictures and with the example of Magic Button. I had the same problem with Battery Pack 2003, GPRS Monitor, Magic Button, etc,etc,etc.... Seems like I will live the same thing with some/most of the softwares if I can not find what is wrong. Here is the problem:

I download a software (Magic Button as an example)

I connect to my PPC with Active Sync.

I click on the .exe to install it.

This window appears:

I click on NEXT and this comes up:

I click on Agree and FINISH button appears:

I click on FINISH.......

And nothing happens. The installation dialog closes itself. No software in PPC, nothing in my PC. It just closes itself. I see the software creates a .temp file in the file that the .exe is, but after I click on FINISH that .temp file disappears too.

Does anyone have an idea what kind of a problem I have :?: Please help me because I will go crazy soon.

First, just go ahead and restart the PC and soft reset the PPC. It definitely might solve the problem...

But then, next time you sync, try going to the Add/Remove Programs window from ActiveSync and see if the program shows up in that list. If it does, you can just check the box next to it and then it should install.

Reboot, then purge everything in your /windows/temp directory, then reboot again, and try installing your software again.

First, make sure that when you restart your PC you do a complete power-down.

With your device connected, go to ActiveSync on your desktop and go to Tools>Add/Remove Programs.

Do you see any of the software listed that you've tried to install? If so, make sure there is a checkmark next to one you want to install, and select OKAY. It should install.

No I dont see the softwares at the ADD/REMOVE section of Avtive Sync.

I solved the problem. I think my laptop has a problem and needs a format. I tried to install the softwares at another laptop and everything worked fine. :D
