View Full Version : Sync port out of whack on iPaq 3765

I was checking out Brad's review (http://pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,11591) of a great-looking charge & sync solution. I'd love to pick one of these up, but I don't think it will work for me.

A few months, I dropped my iPaq. It was in a brand new Vaja case. Of course, it landed right on the exposed sync connector on the bottom of my iPaq. The port on my iPaq was mangled. I couldn't even get it to fit into a cradle. After a little handy-work with a pair of pliers, I was able to sync again.

But, I can't use charging sync cables any more. If I hold on to the connector, it will work. If I don't, it loses connection. A major hassle. So, I bought a full iPaq cradle complete with charging cable. It works great.

Anyone else ever have this problem?

BTW, my iPaq is out of warranty and I'm too cheap to get it fixed. Actually, I'm hoping that it will die an ugly death (not by my hands of course) so that I can justify buying a new Pocket PC.

In most cases, your sync connector needs to be resoldered to the button board. The interconnect between the button board and main pcb could be damaged also.

We can repair the problem including replacing the connectors if needed.

Great solution, Leonard! Guess this means he'll have to wait awhile before buying a new Pocket PC.

This actually happened to me...

My point is that Leonard Wesson from PPCTechs did exactly what he mentioned above, and my 3765 worked just fine afterwards. It was better than perfect. Well, it was at least as good as the day I bought it.

Leonard is a wizard with everything he does to Pocket PC's. If you're looking for a good way to update an aging device; or need to fix one, Leonard is the man to do it!
