View Full Version : ActiveSync 3.7 and AvantGo

Has anyone been successful in getting these two to play nice together? It keeps telling me I have to upgrade my avantgo software. What's up with that? Anyone know of a fix?

No problem here... I ROM-upgraded my Axim yesterday (litteraly) and upgraded ActiveSync today. Haven't installed any software from AvantGo exept the one included in ROM. No problems...

This problem was in 3.6 as well. It either tells you to upgrade the software or it says "Device components missing or out of date." The only fix I know is to softrest (several times a day if you want to sync with Avantgo).

I've reset (multiple times), reinstalled the AvantGo client, and checked my connection settings. It gets as far as "connection successful" but then tells me to go to AvantGo.com to upgrade my software. Argh! Argh Argh! :evil:

No problems ... but wasn't there something in the README from AS 3.7 about Avantgo? ;)

Actually, I think I discovered my problem. After installing ActiveSync 3.7, my Storage Card wasn't being detected! I unplugged it, plugged it back into the PPC, and re-synched and tah-dah... everything worked just fine. At least as far as I can tell. So my advice is if you install AS 3.7, be sure to unplug and re-insert your storage card *and* do a soft reset of your PDA before synchronizing.

This seens to be a known issue.
If you go to http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/activesync37.asp and look at the notes (near the bottom of the page), one bullet point in red says:
"If you use AvantGo and have installed an upgrade (such as the AvantGo Security Upgrade for Pocket PC devices), installing ActiveSync 3.7 will prevent AvantGo from syncing properly. To fix this problem, please reinstall the latest version of AvantGo."
