Hi all,

All good things come to an end, or so they say. After exactly two years of hunting down and posting Pocket PC related news for Pocket PC Thoughts, I'm stepping down as a member of the news team at Thoughts.

I won't go far, as I will remain on board for an occasional post or review. Mobile computing in general, and Pocket PCs in particular, will remain to be on the top of my list of interests. But I can no longer dedicate as much time as before to that interest, so I thought it best to quit being member of the news team here. I'll go into retirement as far as it concerns the daily updates of this site.

Looking back on my two years here, I can say these were amazing times. When I started, the site looked way different.... Jason had just moved up to a state-of-the-art (and very cool!) blogscript called Greymatter from his initial Blogger based site, and we had some fundamental discussions on the use of images. Back then, bandwidth woes troubled both Thoughts and the readers. If I see where the site is today, I can only applaud Jason for what he has achieved. And I know this achievement has far from ended. Tomorrow (well.... soon!) everything will be even better! I know this site is in good hands with Jason, Andy, Ed, Brad, Janak, Fabrizio, Steven, Chris, Ashley and all the other contributors, so I'll continue to have this as the home page to my browsers. Especially since from now on I'll be depending on their efforts to get the Pocket PC news to me. ;)

I'd like to end by thanking you, the readers of this site, for all the support I've received and the excellent discussions we've had. A site like this could not exist without the interaction with a community of good people. And our community simply rocks, I'm glad to be part of it! I'll see you around.

Take care,
Marlof

O, but that's one of the things I still see in my future: post on topics like that on the frontpage. I'm just leaving the regular rotation of newshounds that post on everything that is going on in the PPC world on a daily basis (like I've been doing for the past 2 years). You can still count on me for the odd post on minority topics.
So once more: I'm not leaving, I just will be less visible. ;)

Marlof,
From the very first days at the NGs (remember when we were just a handful of people and only three brands of Pocket PCs?) I have appreciated your comments, help and presence. I know you will still be lurking and that we'll keep hearing from you. But I also understand all too well the press of time.
Enjoy some leisure time!

Marlof, I remember when you helped me out with news posting on PocketGamer.org when I was away - despite not being a games fan. You'll always be an exceptionally cool guy in my books. :D

Don't forget to mention that you forgot to give me rebuilding rights, so all I could do to have my new posts appear is to post a phantom new post -which rebuilt the previous site- and then have that deleted. And all the while you were laying on your bum in Turkye. My friend! How could I forget? ;)

I know that I have not been posting much in this forum, the reason I am here is mostly to read, to increase knowledge. And this forum has provided me with so much new information ... I was totally against mobile computers back in early 2002, when I 'accidently' stumbled into this forum, and at present I owned a PPC myself. Talk about Jason's/Ed's/Janak's influencing skill. ha ha.
I must say that I am going to miss your somewhat 'weird' way of looking into things  .. I still remember the way you slammed a guy named 'john' (or jeff??) for a backlight issue on ipaq 3850. ha ha ha. That was classic. And the poll on whether he is a whiner or not ... was simply unforgettable.
Well anyway, hope to see your posts soon ... you can run, but you cant hide

Of course, anybody who has visited this site knows Marlof and his unique sense of humor. Marlof has always eagerly shared anything and all he knows with Pocket PC Thoughts readers.
A few of us more lucky people have had the honour of getting to know Marlof on a more personal level and spend time in person with him. I wish I could effectively describe to everyone how I've gotten to understand that Marlof epitomizes the ideas of friendship, camaraderie, integrity and loyalty. Sure, I know that we'll still be in touch, but even a slight decrease in how often we interact will leave my days a bit duller.
It makes me feel better to remember, though, that Marlof isn't leaving the team, he's just going to be sitting on the bench a lot more.
Good luck, Marlof. Make sure you jump back into the game as often as you can.
