Anyone else find this really fuzzy? Any word on an update or patch to solve this issue?

Yeah, I've heard that from a few people, but I haven't heard about any planned fix for it.

I find it to be an almost glaring oversight. It's readable but it can become a bit tiring to the eyes after a short while. The screen is so vibrant otherwise...seems to be an odd choice.

It might be the orientation of the screen's transistors -- ClearType needs them in a particular way. Search for posts of old iPAQs with ClearType -- it had a similar problem (although I haven't seen the V35's screen). Have you tried contacting ViewSonic?

I did, in fact.
The first email I got from their Support Staff seemed to indicate they had never heard of the problem before.
The second one confirmed my observations when the tech support individual observed the issue on a V35 he had on hand.
He said he'd get back to me if anything came to light...but I'm not holding my breath.

Try this program, supposedly it renders sub-pixel font smoothing in a different manner than ClearType. This is an eBook reader and will work on any non-DRM Palm eBook format (as well as .txt files).

I've used µBook on my V35, and yes it does look better than the ClearType rendering. It's a solid reader as well. Good call. ;)
I'd still like to see a patch or update from ViewSonic on this, as this solution does nothing for using ClearType in other applications.
