Okay, once and for all, can anyone tell me which is faster? I mean generally. I know such and such brand SD might out perform so-and-so's CF. But as far as the FORMAT itself goes... which is fastest: CF or SD?
As a side note, can you provide a link to some documentation on the subject?

CF.
Because I said so. Seriously, no documentation that I know of, but if you do a Google search you'll find something...I think technically that a 4-bit SD is as fast on paper as CF, but CF is usually faster in real life. And not all Pocket PCs use 4-bit SD...some are only 1-bit, which is mega-slow.

Okay, so CF is faster and cheaper and size isn't a consideration in my mind... I know what my next purchase will be.
Thank you.

If you have both, I believe folks embrace SD because they need/want to use a CF expansion card: modem, ethernet, wifi, camera, Global Domination Death Ray ... whatever.

Well my Global Domination Death Ray hasn't yet arrived (damned Amazon super-saver-shipping!) and my Wi-Fi isn't set up right now, so I'll use the CF for movies, the SD for MP3's and the internal storage for programs.
