Why cant I find a network traffic monitor for the PPC? All I want is an application that shows kbps Sent and Received in the menu bar.

Or at least some indicator lights that flash with traffic.

Anyone find something like this?

But does that monitor WLAN? I think i remeber trying it... no go... but I will try it again.

Seems like this is a missing/needed app.

I tried the product, and couldent figure out a way to get it to do an 802.11 connection from my tosh e740. It was a while back, so they may have updated... but I did try. Try network monitor from pdawin.com, this works for me, but isn't as nice looking.

Hmm, iPAQPanel by Rhinocode will flash a light showing Network Activity, for both incoming and outgoing.
Will also show droped, and connected status of your 802.11b connection.

I'll Give this one a try, Thanks!

By-the-way... Im using an iPaq 5455 --Would be nice if the WLAN status light would have an option of flashing with traffic (Like a standard WiFi Card).

If it's really important to you, and you don't mind spending the money, this (http://www.epiphan.com/products_cemynetwork_wireless.html) will do the trick along with many other things.

They have different versions of that software, make sure you get the correct one.

I dont mind paying for software... but all im looking for is a simple indicator of Send/Receive on my 802.11. Just two little LEDs on the menu bar would be great.

Depends on the card. It apparently works with Prism-based cards but not Hermes-based (Dell TrueMobile 1150, Orinoco series, Compaq WL110) cards. The Hermes chipset is used afaik exclusively in PC Card form factor wifi cards, though. Winc should work with all CF cards. They used to have a listing of either cards that did work or cards that didn't work with their product.

I'm sure users will find this as useful information.

I have a Linksys CF card myself.

Would be nice if it worked with the iPAQ ROM Update. The update seemed to have broke it! :)

By-the-way... what does this have to do with my original post? Hmmmm Sniffers are cool I guess.
