Is the 1910 connector (activesync and charge) the same type as used on the 3900 series?

Reason I am asking is that I want to get my wife a 1910 and I wanted to know if I could use the same charge/sync cable I use for my 3950.

Thanks

PS: Also, anyone know if a bettery extender for the 3900 will also work on the 1910?

:)

The 1900 plug is very similar to the 3900s. From what I've heard, the USB sync/charge cables should work just fine (except that the connector is turned around). However, no serial accessories will.

I can confirm that sync-and-charge cables appear to be interchangeable between the two devices.

I have a USB sync cable that was apparently made for the 1910 (the connector has to be inserted upside-down into my 38xx), and it works fine with my 38xx.

I haven't tried the reverse test of using a 38xx/39xx connector with a 1910, but I can't see why this would be an issue.

The plugs appear to be identical except for the fact that HP reversed the plug from the 38xx and 39xx series. Typical eh?

does this mean (if you dont care if the warentee becomes void) that you can open up the ipaq and reverse the connector or is it fixed....never seen the inside of a pocket pc myself

If it's like the inside of a few old Palm OS devices I have pulled apart (hey what can I say I was bored and they where just sitting there... honest! :devilboy: ) the connector will be hard wired to the circuit board.

They're compatible, but not identical. In particular, the serial pins in the 1910 are inactive; only the USB and power are used. I think they reversed the plug specifically so that people don't try things like the Stowaway, which will not work (as it uses serial).

snappy2515, that probably means that even if you could reverse the connector (which would probably be a hard job, requiring resoldering at the minimum), it would be of little to no use.
