i dl'ed the new flash player 6 a few weeks ago, tried to install it, and it didn't work. I didn't need it, so I let it go for about a week. THen I dl it again, and it installed, but no shortcut. In my Remove Programs tab, there's "macromedia Flash Player ActiveX". Still no shortcut in the start menu, in programs, in file explorer, not even a file havint to do with macromedia in the Program Files folder. What's up with this? I install it on my 3850. any help thanks.

It only installs an ActiveX component that allows other applications to use Flash - it's not a full fledged viewer from what I understand.

It is a plugin for PIE. You can view flash in PIE, but usually the flash window is too big to see the whole thing at once.

You can download flash files (they are stored in your temporary internet files as .swf files, so you don't really have to download them, just view them on your PC, then drag them to your axim) and watch them with AntMobile's Flash Assist. It's not free, but you can use it like 20 times before registering. It's not that expensive either.

So now I can keep all of my Strongbad emails with me from http://www.homestarrunner.com .

The only problem with the software is that there is A) no landscape viewing, not a big deal, and B) there is a black "frame" to the flash window, and a lot of flash animations (cartoons) go outside the frame, so you can see a black "frame" crossing the animation (as the actual cartoon is taller than the frame and goes over and under it).

There's a free program for Pocket PC called Flash Browser (http://members.cox.net/nnsysdev/#FlashBrowser) that embeds .swf files in html for viewing on Pocket IE. It lets you select the size at which you want to view the animation, and did I mention it's free?

I also have some "classic" Strong Bad emails in my Pocket PC, as well as the fhqwhgads song and the Cheat Theme Song. Great for whipping out and showing to people who have never heard of Homestarrunner. I had a guy at a party in stitches.

I wrote a short tutorial (http://www.gospacewaitress.com/pocketspace/archives/000282.html) on how to view Flash animations on your Pocket PC.

I still can't get flashbrowser to find anything (.swf, ie pages with flash in them, etc.).

so basically it takes saved flash pages and lets you resize the animation because the animation is usually way too big for the PIE window?

i've got it, just can't get it to do anything.

Ok.. I remember getting a falsh program for my old Cassiopeia, I think it was flash 5. I didn't have to open it in IE or anything, so is there any program that I can just open and it loads an .swf file? I downloaded a bunch of <a href=http://www.muffinfilms.com/>Muffin Films</a> and I want to show them to friends.. This all sounds too complicated.[/url]

Here's something interesting....

The AntMobile Flash Assist Program that I've been using... well, the trial period expires, but instead of disabling the program, it's like Snood... it lets you keep using it, but you get a message at the startup of the program saying it's time to register.

The flash files have to be stored in the root of your device or storage card.
