I started using windows movie maker to edit my movies and stuff, but I was just wondering if ther ewas any way I could save the file so that it was something over than a .wmv file? Windows Meida Player doesn't play video on my h3850 and I don't feel like dealing with it, and I have PocketMVP and PocketTV and if I could get it to .avi or .mpg that would be great, but how? or is microsoft being a total craphead and not allowing people to save as other file extensions?...

I use STOIK Video Converter (http://www.stoik.com/downloads/downloads_frm.htm) to convert .wmv files into .avi files
I then use VirtualDUB (http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/) to convert those files into a .mpg that looks great with PocketMVP.
A good guide for VirtualDUB is here (http://www.pocketmatrix.com/guides/dvd2divx/#converting):

I use FlaskMPEG or VirtualDub, both are free and Divx-encoded avi's look so much better than .wmv, even when encoding them with WMP 9 series codecs on WME or WMM.
I usually encode my avi's at 400 kbps, 1 pass, MP3 audio (22.5kHz,stereo), multiple passes give you better quality I think, but I don't like to spend the extra time.
