Any idea when the option to use the sim is available to use on this model
If it is already able to use what software can be used with a T-Mobile sim on this device.

That is just a dummy slot at the moment. It should be functional in a new series of PDA's based on the 5400 case that HP should release.
The real question is can you have SIM and 802.11b functionality...

It would be nice to have it all in one like that. A true PDA (in my sense of the word) by having all the buttons and still in a decent sized form along with the li-ion poly battery.

SIM is the small card used in mobiles to store your contacts etc. It also stores info from your mobile provider. Basically without it the phone wont work :)

Just to add to what Andrew said - SIM stands for "Subscriber Information Module", and is mostly confined to GSM wireless devices. Most CDMA and TDMA networks don't use SIMs. It's basically a small smart chip.
