I installed HP's patch to correct the low volume problem when listening to files with headphones on the 5455. Now, the volume is too high. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I'm assuming that I can de-install the patch, but I wanted to check with you all first.

Yep, I noticed this too. I have to turn the volume on the 5455 down just about all the way to be at a comfortable level when using headphones. I about blew my eardrums out on the plane last week when I went to listen to some sleeping music. :onfire:

Or if you accidentally push the volume up button on the side of the device when putting it in your coat pocket. OUCH!

I have tried to uninstall the patch, and I just get an error message:
"Uninstall unsuccessful. The program was not removed because these files are in use or are read-only. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Memory > Running Programs tab > Stop All and try again.
\Windows\wavedev.dll"
I have cleared all running programs and I have tried again, but no luck. If anyone has any insight into this one, it would be greatly appreciated. I do not wish to perforate my eardrums...

This may not work, but through one of the better pocket explorers, or through "Activesync explore", locate the wavedev file and try renaming it to .old then softreset the ipaq.
It should then let you uninstall but youll probably have to manually delete wavedev afterwards.
Failing that the only other way(s) I can think of is to make sure that the ipaq isnt calling a program at startup that uses the .dll file or to remove it from the registry. IN this case I'd suggest you make a backup first.
The problem youre having though is a similar one to today plugins when you try to uninstall them and usually renaming the appropriate .dll file and then removing fixes it.
