I'm a newbie to the wireless world. I just purchased a Dell Axim and a AmbiCom Wireless Lan IEEE 802.11b CF Card. I work at a university that has several buildings with WIFI access points. I was able to configure everything to connect to the network for Internet access on my Axim, but I can't figure out how to sync wirelessly. I can ping the IP address of my computer, but that is all. Can someone help me with what I'm missing.

I've been through several different posts and tried several different suggestions, but can't get it working.

Thanks,
Joel

Joel when you say you can ping your computer what do you mean, by ping 10.0.0.1 or ping Joelscomputer ? To get ActiveSync you need to be able to do it by name.

Also in connection you need it set to WorkSettings/Work Settings/Work. And then click the center Work Settings modify... Proxy Settings and check the first box this network connects to the internet.

Also, on desktop in Activesync, make sure you check: file, connection settings, Allow network (ethernet) and RAS connection with this computer...

... to the other comments...

1. Did you establish a partnership with the desktop using USB/Serial/IR first? That is a requirement...

2. Look at this PocketPC Passion thread for possible help...

3. If there are any firewalls on the network between the desktop and the PPC then you need to sweet talk the network administrators into opening/forwarding ports... See these pages for details...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q259369

Look at the Known TCP/IP Ports section of this page...
