I hope this is not an inapropriate post - if it is, go ahead and lock it.

I was thinking about starting a site for Students who use PocketPC's and was wondering if anyone else is interested. Since I am soon to be going off to college, I know that some students could really use a resource like this, and there seems to be little or no support for students using pda's.

Just an Idea...

Unless you really want the challenge of your own site, maybe you could work with Jason & the other staff for either a forum section or other assistance - the theme would be copasetic with the rest of this site, just another branch of it (similar to the medical thread).

How would this be inapropriate.

BTW I think this would be a great idea. I wouldn't mind helping out with the site.

Great idea! I'm a fours years into a medical degree in the UK (2 more to go) and am building a site as a resource for fellow medical students. It's mainly notes, etc but I was also thinking of adding a PPC section - I thnink the demand is definitely there!

How would this be inapropriate.

as in starting a competing site on someone else's site. I have been a webmaster, I can understand if some one might not like this.

I don't think this would cause any problems.

You also have to note that there are "partner" links on the home page, hosted by Pocket PC Thoughts. Essentially, Thoughts is paying for ads to other sites, advertised on the home page! Clearly, they support the nurturing of more Pocket PC sites.

Sounds good, but what sort of content would be on it?

I would think reviews of student planning software, writing essays on pda's, note taking, researching, etc....

I think it would be better to make it general to pda's to keep the platform issue out of it. I think something like a mix between writing on your palm and this site would be ideal.

Please do do. I am a 9th grader and I have 10 friends who are in Pocket PCs. I am sadly (or fortunately :?: ) the only one who is seriously into them and goes to this site evry day 3 or 4 or even 17 times a day. The idea is perfect!!!

Can I be the moderator? Please?

How do your 8th graders, 10th graders etc. work? I'm 16 years of age and in England that puts me in year 11. What would I be over there?

Weyoun6

its not really defined by age, 12 grade can be 17 (early), 18 (average), 19 (late), its more defined by your birthdate.

Most 11th graders here are 16 though, or turn 16 sometime during the year.

eeeee!

Freshman 9th: 14-15
Sophomore 10th: 15-16
Junior 11th: 16-17
Senior 12th: 17-18

there are no buts ...only exceptions like transfer students who need to complete a schools requirement to graduate. Or transfer students with report cards from other school with different b-day requirements.

LorryDriver71, if you are turning seventeen before september of next school year ... then you would be an 11th grader "junior"

Maybe at YOUR school....not around here.

When I started school, if you turned 5 by January 1 of that year then you could start Kindgergarten when you were 4. Now, the cutoff is September 1. So if you were turning 17 before September 1, and you hadn't had to repeat a grade or anything like that, you would be in 12th grade.

I guess I was a little off though, I forgot that the cutoff had changed. If you turned 16 before September 1st, you'd be in 11th grade. If you turned 16 after that, you'd be in 10th grade. So most 11th graders NOW are 16, and will turn 17 before starting 12th grade.

There are always buts though, people skip grades or repeat grades sometimes. There's always the one kid who got his driver's license in 9th grade :)

What does it matter how old we are? The reason for a student Pocket PC site is to benefit from each other's expreience and tips, not to prove how young and/or smart we are :!:

I turned 15 after September 1st this year, making a rather young 10th grader. (14/15 vs. 15/16)

There goes my anonymnity.

Sorry, I live at Plano, Texas. So I am "arround here". But I agree, who cares about the age so long as we have a site to share our ideas, and interests? The experience of having a Pocket PC and being in school is extremely different to the experience of our....elders :?:
