Hi all, just wanted to share my thoughts and comments on my iPAQ 3975. I've had it for about a month now.

First of all, I did have a Jornada 568, which I enjoyed very much for one and a half years. But when my wife told me she wanted a ("cheap with no frills - only an organizer") PocketPC of her own, I jumped at the opportunity to do what only a gadget-loving man would do: I sacrificed and gave her my Jornada 568 and, of course, went shopping for a new PPC for myself! :)

(rating scale: 10 stars highest, 1 star lowest)
iPAQ 3975 Overall score: 9 of 10 stars
- screen: 10 (beautiful)
- performance: 7 (not a speed demon, but satisfactory and what I expected)
- portability: 8 (seems a bit bulkier than the Jornada, but I prefer its heavier weight)
- "wow" factor: 9 (turns heads at meetings)
- sound: 9 (good volume and w/adjustable treble and bass)

My setup:
- 3975 (bought online from mobileplanet.com)
- 256MB SD card (Sandisk)
- CF card expansion pack plus w/extended battery
- expansion pack battery charger
- 512MB CF card (Sandisk)
- 56K CF modem (Pretec)
- leather fliptop case (Vaja 891 - custom)
- screen protector (pdascreenprotectors.com)

I purchased the CF expansion pack plus for two reasons: (1) for the extra battery capacity for trans-ocean flights and (2) so that I could use the CF memory and modem cards I had purchased for the Jornada. The expansion pack is easy to use, the 3975 recognized it immediately, as did it the modem and memory card. I use the expansion pack only when I need the modem and during long flights. For daily use I have the 3975 in its Vaja case, with which I am very impressed. The case looks great (Palermo brown color), has an excellent fit, and I like the headphone hole I had them put in it.

I'm very satisfied with my purchase and I highly recommend the 3975. Luckily, my wife is likewise satisfied with the Jornada. :D

Like beejaypee, I too have a new iPAQ 3900 series handheld. I opted to not get the bluetooth version, so I saved a few bucks by picking up a 3955. I have to say that I have been very impressed so far. This unit is leaps and bounds better than my 3765.

I couldn't agree more with the previous review except for the performance. Maybe it is a case of lower expectations, but I don't have any issues with the system's profmance (probably would have rated it more than a 7).

I had great hopes to gently ease my wife into the world of Pocket PC's too, but has less success than beejaypee - kinda overwhelmed her. :?

...just my 2 cents!
