ı observed with my ipaq 3800 and pocket loox when ı read ebooks with msreader battery life rapidly goes down
the backlight is at min.
ı tried moving lit files from sdcard to main memory to no avail.

the backlight uses up a lot of power, even when it's set to a minimum.

Correct, especially because on the reflective 3800 it's a sidelight, not a backlight. If you're reading in a well-lit room or outside, try setting yourself up so you can read without the backlight - that might double your battery life.
Otherwise, an external battery (either as part of a sleeve or a battery extender) might do the trick.
