If you need to keep track of things and want to use photos, this would be a cool little app to use and keep it all in one location. [Affiliate]

CLC Journal, though it has problems, is to date the ONLY full-featured (PI isn`t there yet) journal app that syncs with Outlook. The picture feature is unique and sounds cool, but I`ll take sync over bells and whistles any day.

Sounds like a nice program. Does it compile all the entries into one file are does it keep the files in a directory?

Back when I first got my HP 548, I found the coolest app, but I've never been able to get in contact with the author.

At first glance, this application looks similar - I'm gonna try it and see.

The PocketPC Logbook is described on this excellent web page: http://www.kaibab.org/gc/pocketpc/pocketpc.htm.

This is a true database app, so it stores everything in a table in your WindowsCE/ Pocket PC data store.

This isn't like PI, which syncs with your Outlook Journal. This is a diary application.

Does it have audio recording support? I think that would be useful more often than a picture. Like driving in a car.

Looks interesting, but no trial available??

Does it have audio recording support?

No. It doesn't currently support the insertion of Audio files. This app was packaged with VisualCE Enterprise 7.0a. VCE doesn't currently support that, altho I will pass it on to Syware and see what they have to say.

Looks interesting, but no trial available??

No. The app doesn't currently come in a trial mode because VisualCE doesn't support any kind of code that would prevent the use of the app after a given time frame has passed. I'm not exactly sure that they envisioned VCE being used for retail purposes...

However, the application is reasonably priced, and I feel that the descripton and screen shot adequately describe what it can do. Since the price point of this app is so low, you arent' risking a lot, either.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Howdy, it looks interesting but i wonder how well it works. I am saying that because journal writing for me is a very personal thing. So why I love using pda's i do have a preference on journal writing. I would like one that can sync wiht any program i choose, or with outlook, word, etc.

This app was written with VisualCE Enterprise 7.0a (http://www.syware.com) and is a true database app. Personal Journal is meant to give the Pocket PC user the ability to keep a Journal/ Diary with MINIMAL overhead. It is quick and easy to use.

Data backups for Personal Journal can be done using VisualCE Tools, a free download from Syware (http://www.syware.com).

If you're looking for something that syncs Outlook Journal Entries (which is something COMPELTELY different...) with your device, you should try Journal Sync from WebIS http://www.pocketinformant.com/JournalSync.php.

If you're looking for something that will allow you to keep a Journal using Word; then I would suggest creating a series of folders on your device, creating a Pocket Word Template and then letting File Synchronization take over from there. Its quick, simple, easy and most of all, FREE.

However, Personal Journal is very affordable and reasonably priced. It keeps your data in the WindowsCE Data Store on your device and is not easily over written or destroyed unless you hard reset your device or delete records with the form.

If you're wanting something with a bit more redundancy, for backup purposes, and would also enjoy entering Journal Entries on the desktop; then I'd suggest Personal Journal Pro, which includes all the features of Personal Journal, but will also give you a desktop form as well as back up all of your data to an Access Database. Personal Journal Pro is only $9.99 for new users, or $5.99 for existing Personal Journal customers.

If anyone has any other questions about Personal Journal, please feel free to give me a shout at [email protected].

For those interested, Personal Journal can be purchased here (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&features=0&jid=35E64D6A8461595E15C1757EB213D848&advSearch=true&productId=62622&optionId=1_2_2&productType=2&catalog=30&sectionId=3299&platformId=2). [Affiliate]

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm looking to buy a diary program.

A couple of questions on Personal Journal
- is there search facility, so that you can find text from previous entries?
- Personal Journal Pro is mentioned, but I can't find any mention of it on Handango?

No problem. Glad to be of help.

PJ is a very simple journalling app. It does what it does very well. By default, PJ and all VisualCE apps have a Filter function that can be used to search for different criteria in up to 3 fields at one time. To get to this feature, tap Option--Filter--Custom, and then complete the dialog that displays.

PJ Pro has not been requested by anyone, and therefore, I haven't finished the development on it. At this time, I have no plans to complete something that there isn't any demand for, so...

Hope this answers your questions...
