Since the h1910 doesn't come with Windows Media Player pre-installed I can pick the program I'd rather have. :D I never liked the Windows Player anyway.

Are there any good programs out there? On my desktop I like JetAudio. I am looking for something SIMPLE with a great look.

Thanks for your input!

POCKETMVP!!!!!! An awesome free, open source media player that plays .mp3, .ogg and DIVX!!!

Get it here:

Click here to download another great MP3 player with a built in equalizer.

I'm also using Pocket MVP. The basic download is rather plain looking, but there are some pretty nice skins kicking around for it.

Technically Pocket MVP has just about everything you would need, good sound with an equalizer. It works very well on DivX and MPeg movies as well as MP3 files.

My next project is to rip some of my CDs into ogg format, which PMVP also plays.

Pocket MVP is great for all around multimedia. If you want just ogg and mp3 there is also WinamPAQ, which looks identical to winamp

Where do you get the skins for PMVP?

I don't know where I'd be without PMVP!!!

It's one of few players that support OGG and it's the only PPC video player that can support DivX video.

If you're looking to play MPEG1 videos though, you're better served by PocketTV.

In general, there is more online MPEG1 content (commercials, short videos) than DivX, but DivX is the far superior standard if you're into creating your own videos (ripping movies from DVD especially!).

Thanks for your replies. I think I didn't specify enough what I was looking for. Sorry. :oops: I am actually looking for something to play music only.

I am currently very interested in the GS player. Anyone knows more about it?

Thanks!

I REALLY REALLY liked WinamPAQ before it mysteriously stopped working. I'd still recommend it.

I'm currently using GSPlayer after a few mp3's burped on all the other mp3 players. Shoutcast support as well as ogg and wav.

The nice thing about it is that it does'nt take up the whole screen and appears on a little window of it's own plus you can choose to hide it skin it.

Now I installed GS player onto my ppc, and I love it! It works really really great. With the other players (like withmp3) I had the hardest time setting it up with the stylus, those buttons are just so damn small!! :D

Are there any skins around for GS player? If not, how do you make them? I'd be very interested in that...

You can go to the GSplayer Site http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA032810/gsp.htm for skins.

The site is in Japanese (?). Stainless steel Blue Face and Green panel are the skins on the site and are written in english. You will need un archive these as they are in lzh format. WinRAR will take care of that.
Stick the skin you want in a folder in the my documents folder. And select it with the GSplayer. I quite like blueface.

Each eliment of the skin is just a BMP file and text file with some configs with a .gps extension in the filename.
eg.

[GSPlayer Skin]
Version=1
Background=back.bmp
Number=number.bmp
Button=button.bmp
Status=status.bmp
PlayOption=playopt.bmp
Disp=0
DispColor=169,223,4
PeekColorL=139,174,14
PeekColorR=139,174,14
InfoColor=0, 0, 0
TitleColor=0, 0, 0
SeekColor=139,174,14

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks a lot! It makes "somewhat" sense. I got the skins downloaded and I too like Blueface best.
I am going to ponder over this skinning business a little and we'll see what I come up with. I love skinning.. :) but I always used userfriendly interfaces.

Glad to be of help and good luck with the skinning. It's a nice little program and not to over the top.
