Hello All,

I want to buy a 256MB CF card form my Axim. I've looked at a couple of sites, and I've seen that they differ in speed, ranging from 6x to 24x.
I was hoping someone could give me a hint or two regarding the importance of these speed differences.

Also, are there any concerns regarding brands: the best offer I've been able to find is of the brand [i]Kingston Technologyfor 79€, but they don't specify the speed (hence my first question).

Thank you

Think about how you will use the card. In a Pocket PC, you won't notice a huge difference in speed mainly because there are several factors that come into play and also the majority programs for Pocket PC are relatively small so access times are normally short to start with.
If you plan on transferring large files or a large number of files to the card via a card reader, you will notice the difference more.

In typical Pocket PC use though, you won't notice much difference in speed between cards. I have used 3 different brands of CF cards with two different Pocket PCs and one of those cards is San Disk's Ultra card. Nothing much to note speed wise.

The speed matters more for digital cameras...so if you plan on using it for one of those also, you may consider that.

I'll only use the card in my PPC, so I guess the speed won't be that much of an issue then.

Thanks for your input guys, I appreciate it :)
In the meantime, I'm off to get myself a new card....
