Well it makes sense, he did invent the Internet.

I've seen this reference a few times now. Did Gore actually say that at one time?

not really. He was referring to his Senate activity to initiate the bill demiliterizing the arpanet and making available the network as IP protocol. Pretty major bill.
But he was stupid enough to talk about complex piece of initiative in election year campaign instead of enounciating "big picture" and 2 minutes sound bites. Crunchy target to counter campaign. The other guy do it better.

I saw the video clip and his words (as exactly as I can remember them) were "I took the initiative in inventing the internet, ... "
So, yes, that's what he said.

I don't know why, but this stikes me as a perfect match, somehow. A preacher/politician/lawyer/reporter who is just too full of himself joining Jobs at Apple?
So, the guy who campaigned against corporate exess (Working for the people not the powerful) becomes a board member. Stunning. Wonder how much he is getting paid?
I kinda like Apple's products. But their "vision" thing perplexes me betimes.
Wonder where old Al and old Apple will wind up 20 years from now?

Yes, but it was out of context (http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.htm).

You either say it or you don't. While that was not his exact words it's painfully obvious that was the impression he was trying to portray It's only out of context when you are cought in a stretch of the truth and are back-pedling. The article posted mentions that there is no evidence of trurth to his exact words. Just like "growing up on a farm" ...... But given that administration and their lack of truthfullnes it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Those are facts ....

Nah, I disagree. It was very clear from the context that he was talking about legislative initiatives. Both he and all of us know he wasn't responsible for the technical development -- Jon Postel (http://www.isoc.org/postel/) & co. were. I do agree he was wasting his time saying this, and it's entirely possible the Internet would have succeeded without his participation, but let's not accuse him of attempting to credit himself as having "invented" the Internet.

I saw this on CNET and planned to start a thread of it on the Offtopic section because this is just laughable. The only good thing in this is that he is not a spokesman. Just imagine....
Gore is an avid Mac user who edits his own videos using Final Cut Pro.
I didn't understand that very well. If anyone could explain because if this means what I am thinking then Apple has made a pretty large mistake.
