I use this product called Emergen-C (http://www.safetycentral.com/emdrinmix.html) and it does wonders for my health when I feel a cold coming on. It also is good to get rid of one and give you a little more energy. It comes as this little podwer that you put in water and just drink. I work on a financial exchange and I constantly touch other peoples computer equipment and 90% of the time someone is sick. Since I started using one of these once a week, I have yet to be sick again. Before that I was always coming down with something and now all my co-workers are the ones getting sick.
Just a suggestion. :D By no means an absolute solution. I was very skeptical by I found it worked. Available at GNC.

... go to the doctor! Be sure that you take proper care of yourself, with such a high fever. Listen to your spouse. Drink plenty of fluids. And if nothing works, get some Vicks Nyquil. That stuff would bring a dead guy back to life.
Aww, I sound like my mom.
All the best!

I've been up since 4 AM, can't sleep...but the fever is breaking (only 99.1 now). I've learned a lot about fevers though - it's funny, common wisdom is that fevers are bad and when you get one you should apply a cold compress, etc. Turns out that when your body gets a fever it's a naturcal defense - your body is turning up the heat to kill bacteria in the blood.
I don't get sick very often, but when I do, oh boy....I get *really* sick. Bleh.

As long as it isn't the new flu-string that killed 10 people in Hong Kong, you'l be uncomfortable, but all right. And having your wife take care of you is always nice :)

Flu is pretty terrible. Much like you Jason I don't get sick often at all but when I do its pretty bad.
The last time I have been really sick in the last 3 or 4 years was this past December when I got Strep throat.
Easily the sickest I have ever been. Fever, without exaggeration, was pretty steady for 6 days topping out at 103.2 on the first night it really hit and only once or twice going below 101 in that time.
It took me literally a few weeks to recover and I lost about 8 or 9 pounds during that time.
I had many of the 4am nights so I feel for you.
Rest up and take care of yourself, there is plenty going on in the news and you always have these forums to keep you company so take it easy.

Correct, and that's why analgesics like Aspirin are a mixed bag -- they relieve you of pain, but by reducing the fever they reduce the ability to kill the virus/bacteria.
On the other hand, cold compresses and Aspirin are godsend when your body goes overboard in its feverish defense. So be careful, drink a lot, and toss around in bed. ;)

Actually, she came down with the flu an hour or so before I did, so we're BOTH in rough shape.
The worst is over now though - the fever has broken, and we're both feeling 200% better than we did last night.

Sorry about the flu Jason. I guess this signals the beginnng of Spring. It'll be over before you know it.
I get sick a lot so I guess I am beginning to develope an imunity. Its either that or I am just getting used to being rammed by a truck when I wake up. The first day was awful. It was a 12 wheeler. The second day was worst. An 18 wheeler. The third day it began to die down. An SUV. The fourth day was (finally) over. A toy car.
Hope to see you back up and running. :D

Please tell me it doesn't start with a mild, but persistent headache. If so, I'll have to call in sick now for Monday.
