I ordered it direct from Toshiba. Nice screen, more controls, faster, doesn't turn on all the time, battery seem to last longer. Touch of screen is much better. More to come.

Wait, the e750 is out now?

How's the screen compared with the iPaq 5450?

just goes to show you toshiba's wonderful marketing for this product of thier's. which makes me wonder if there's a strong initiative by these pocket pc companies to really drive thier products out to the masses? i mean i don't really see many advertisements for any one particular ppc by any one manufacturer.

....or is it just me up here in canada? what about elsewhere in the world?

Does e750 support any adapter for PCMCIA device expansion?

Thanks!

You can get an adapter for the CF slot - but using a PCMCIA card defeats the purpose of a "Pocket" PC - look what it did to the iPAQ 8O

PCMCIA cards traditionally need more power so some simple adapters will not work properly...however this one seems like it'll do the job.

Toshiba's thinking is that if you need a Pocket PC, then it should fit in a pocket, so no PCMCIA...if that's what you need, then you should get a Tablet (since they don't make HPCs).

Although there are some "floppy" adapters to use a PCMCIA accessory with a CF slot. It ends up being made of soft rubber (if I'm right) and can just be flipped around and held on the back of the device. Still not very suave...

Is that from a press release?

The reason why it's called PocketPC is b/c of the OS they chose to implement with. Yes, a PC-to-CF adapter hurts the mobility, but it still has its uses, especially for those that don't have the money to reinvest in CF cards what they already have in PC cards. It can be a particularly handy thing for cards such as a WiFi card which may only be needed on spot occasions.

You're not serious are you? The TabletPCs are certainly nice, but having to carry it around everywhere is not the same as carrying around a PPC, a rubberized adapter, and a PC card.

Additionally, I don't believe that TabletPCs are "instant-on" devices, are they? If they aren't, that would make a rather poor choice for a PDA.

No, they're not. They do have suspend/resume - they're basically XP laptops that way - but that's not the same thing.

So they certainly weren't designed as a PDA device... thanks for the confirmation.
