View Full Version : BT speed question - how fast can it go?

BT has a speed of 723Kbit/sec, theoretically.
How much of this is left in practice, and how much is lost to overhead? Some claim an Ipaq with its serial BT connection, will get only 10-15Kbit/sec.
How high can the rate get on a good setup?

It really depends on which units you have. I think, in practice, you could get 500kbps or a bit more -- but with most iPaqs (certainly the 3870) you're stuck at 115kbps.

Is this because the BT serial connection profile is limited to 115kbps?

No, it's because Compaq implemented all BT communication through a RS232-like serial interface -- i.e., even for object exchange, file transfer, LAN access, etc., you get ~ 115kbps. :(

Hi
If you use a non BT iPAQ with a CF sleeve for instance and a BT CF Card such will the speed be much quicker.
Alternatively what are the speeds for iPAQ BT Sleeves such as HP offering or TDK Bluepaq?
