having just ordered my dell axim 400mhz on tuesday, and now awaiting delivery on monday, i paid a total of £266.73 including vat and delivery charges (that's about $425 US ! ouch. and we don't get a $50 rebate ?)

i went through this link to make my initial purchase:
http://www.euro.dell.com/countries/uk/enu/dhs/products/series_axim5_handhelds.htm
where the price is listed as "from £278"

i've just been on the dell website looking for accessories, and accessed the dell axim ordering through a different link
this one:
http://dellware.euro.dell.com/dellstore/dellware/collection/default.asp?c=uk160000&s=uktra&v=d

now by adding this to my shopping basket, the price drops to a total of £253.86, making a saving of £12.87.

i can't see any difference in spec, nothing is missing, so i am now emailing dell to advise this of this pricing anomaly, and to request a refund for the £12.78

just thought i'd mention this to anyone else ordering from the uk, and possibly to hilight there may be a similar price glitch when ordering from the us dell site.

regards
robert

[edited to add] ahhh this looks like it may be a promotional offer ??? anyway, in that case it's worth clicking through the dell website a few times, as this is not obvious from the start page.

lucky you.
i ordered last sunday , dell issued a delivery date : friday 21st , a customer number and a order number , and now their system can't find my order.
even one of the sales guys is having trouble tracing it ,and he's the one who confirmed it.

are they always this bad ?

the dell order number and customer number they issued by email were invalid according to the online tracking. i phoned dell, and they gave me completely different numbers, based on the dell order number i gave them. your customer number should start with a 'gb' and the dell order number should be 9 digits long.

yes.
customer number starts bg****
order number is 10 chars long , all numerical ,both supplied in a seperate email from same person who confirmed original order.(after i queried why no more than initial response after 4 days)
the online system still says it doesn't exist , the sales person hasn't got back in over 72hours , neither has the automated "can't track my order" system.

something is definitely amiss. you just need to keep hassling dell. if they give you anything more about 'we can't locate your order' then tell them to initiate a new one, get the new correct order numbers, and make sure that they get it sent out immediately.

i had the email with the (invalid) 7 digit dell order number and 6 digit customer number about 2 or 3 hours after placing my order online. when i discovered these were invalid, i phoned dell who gave me the correct numbers, i could then start tracking. my order was on the 11th, it went to status 5 shipped the next day, after at one point saying 'we recognise the numbers but can't find the order status' earlier in the day. the walsh western tracking began at 23:40 on the 12th, and it is now saying the item is in southampton.

good luck !
