I just thought I'd share my experience with the screenprotector from Boxwave that I received today. First off, very speedy delivery, even to Canada. I was surprised they only charged $ 5 for delivery, and the parcel arrived two days later.

I could never make friends with "sticky" screenprotectors, since my experiences were all of the "try-it-a-couple-of-times-and-then-toss-the-whole-thing-out-the-window" kind. Too many bubbles that wont go away, too much lint that suddenly appeares even though you cleaned that screen until it's so shiny it could blind you. So I kept using the non-sticky ones that you move under the rim of the device. But they collect an awful lot of dust between the protector and the screen, which could lead not only to an annoyed owner, but also to a scratched screen. Ultimately something you were trying to avoid by installing a screen protector.

Anyhow, I got a new pocket pc, so I thought, let's try a new screen protector. Through an ad on Pocketpcthoughts (yes Jason, that same ad), I stumbled over Boxwave screenprotectors, called Cleartouch. I read some reviews and it all sounded great, especially the part where I read that anyone would be able to apply the screen protector without troubles - and bubbles.

And... it's true! At least I was totally able to do it. I took the thing out of the box, peeled off the protective backing, whipped the adhesive sheet onto the clean screen, and - voila': you wouldn't even notice that there's a screenprotector installed, if it wasn't for that great glare reduction. No fingerprints, either. I am amazed. I still think paying $ 12.95 for ONE screen protector is an awful lot of money, but there aren't any cheaper ones out there anyway, and at least this one is washable and reusable (yes, that works too).

Well, that's my experience. I am pretty happy right now. New pocket pc, a new smelly case, new screenprotectors... aaah... technology... it brings a big smile to my face! :D

My issue with other screen protectors is that they're thick and take away more of the screen sensitivity than what I'm willing to give up. What are your observations there?

Same here. . .

I hate the fact that the the sensitivity is lost and I am forced to press harder with a screen protector. Also, issues of the screens brightness comes into play too. Specially on the iPAQ where viewing the screen outdoors is a real nightmare even without a screen protector.

Personally, I would love to see very thin protectors that last 2 - 4 weeks and can be easily replaced. At a cost of 30 cents or so per sheet. Therefore a years supply being around $7 USD for 24 sheets.

Yup, I wouldn't mind disposable ones myself. I'd forgotten about screen brightness, that was an issue for me too.

I really can't say that I noticed any difference of stylus sensitivity... to me it works as well as before. Actually, now I feel more secure to press down harder, or move the stylus faster because I am not scared of scratching the screen anymore.

When it comes to visibility outdoors, I couldn't see a difference either. The anti-glare here is sure helpful.

All I can say is that compared to other products I used, this one is the best so far. I definitively wanted to have a screen protector, because I had scratched the screen of my other device with the stylus (playing Solitaire!), so I wanted to make sure that it wouldn't happen again.

When it comes to cost... I am all for something cheaper. Just look at it. One simple sheet of screen protector, for $ 12.95? What's the margin here? Probably even better than for popcorn sold at movie theatres...

Don't talk to me about popcorn.
Something that you pay $7.00 for maybe a cost of 7 cents worth of popcorn kernals?

With a screen protector being $12.95, I doubt it costs only 13 cents.
Probably closer to $1.30 then the cost of advertising, packaging and labour could boost the cost to 5 - 6 USD. Then $12.95 isn't bad from a sellers viewpoint but from a buyers viewpoint still too expensive.

If screen protectors are manufactured like paper reams then the cost should only be 3 - 4 cents each. Therefore, 30 - 40 cents per sheet should not be a problem for the manufacturer to sell directly.
Otherwise, the resellers retail price will be 50 - 60 cents per sheet.
Even then, this would be a cool price to see 20 sheets at $12 USD.

Then you spend around $24 USD in one year replacing the sheets once every 2 weeks.

Hahaha, hi all : )

I'm actually on several other major boards - but for some unknown reason... didn't make an account here until recently.

Eitel is right, durability is very high with these products.

Rest assured that we want 100% customer satisfaction, if you try it and it's not what you want - we stand behind our products, we'll have an easy refund set up.

Believe me... it doesn't cost anywhere near .05 cents for these screen protectors : p. They have silicone layered on them repeatedly... which isn't a inexpensive product.

But I can definitely understand the sentiment that they are "just pieces of plastic."

Anyways, just wanted to make my presence known - feel free to drop me a PM if there's anything I can help with.

Best wishes all,
