I've been hoping that organizations would start adopting dual WiFi/BT solutions sooner than later. Unfortunately, costs have been prohibitive until recently -- even for standalone BT access points. :cry:

The PX20 (Bluetooth, WiFi and OSGi but not slots or USB) seems to go for about $600 at Expansys.

The coolest part of this device is that it can run on internal rechargeable Lithium batteries.

This, IMHO, is part of the reason BT isn't taking off -- server-side solutions are too darn expensive.

Well, this isn't JUST a BT/WiFi gateway. Your typical gateway doesn't have a Xscale Java application server, and a battery to make it mobile. I would imagine that you could add a hard drive to the newer model and make it a file server as well. Or plug in the optional GPRS card and you have Internet-connected WiFi and Bluetooth in your bus/truck/kiosk/briefcase.

I won't question that the unit is priced well given its functionality, but if they would create a "low-end" unit without the battery and without the app server... there's a good-sized market IMO waiting for affordable BT/WiFi gateways...
