View Full Version : Ipaq charged at evening, drained by morning?

Had this happen 2 or 3 times now... last night, charged my 3870 fully, then unplugged it, put it in its leather case for the night. Get up in the morning and press the on button to see what my appointments are, and there's only 1% charge left?

Have tried searching for other ppl with same problems, not much out there!

I've checked a few things... shut down all programs before putting on standby for the night, unchecked "synchronise away from PC" in activesync (3.6) etc, but worried that it'll happen again!! Only aftermarket addition is a 256mb sandisk SD card (great product! Works fine with my 3870, can play MP3s and MPG video straight off it with no skips etc).

Anyone else had this problem? Now what I've been using it for a while, it's invaluable for it's appointment scheduler and I find it hard to function without it! Hate finding out the battery is almost dead when I take it out for the day. Definitely the low point of the ipaq, shocking battery life

I would dare say the battery is ok and its the battery meter the thing that's defective. It happened on my Toshiba e740 when at one moment its at 97%, the next its at 1%. I think you better send it to HP if it happens again or just change it.

It has to be the battery meter thing because unless you left it on and at a great coincidence found your iPAQ at 1%, there's no way that should happen.

Did you check and see if it stays on after it turns on at midnight?

I would also ask what kind of case you're putting it in. Are any of the application buttons getting pressed, causing the unit to remain on? That's happened to me with a side opening leather wallet case...

I thought all IPAQ's turned themselves on at midnight to "roll over" to a new day. If powersetting is not set to shut itself off in x# of minutes - it may be staying on once it turnes itself on all night long.

Actually, all PPC's turn themselves on at midnight. It's more a PPC OS-thing.

It's also possible that you may have an app open that's preventing it from shutting down. Windows Media Player will not allow your PPC to automatically shut down even if nothing is actually "playing".

Apple Newtons did the same thing except that they would turn on at 3:00 am and roll over calendar appointments and to dos.
