Hi... I just saw at Hp.com two new updates
iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 WLAN Driver Update
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/download/17569.html
and
iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 Battery Driver
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/download/17567.html
So... does someone installed this updates? If someone has installed the WLAN update... can you explain me what this mean:
After installing the SoftPaq, enabling power management will not deliver additional battery life. This SoftPaq is intended to increase WLAN throughput.

Did they remove the WLAN file? I get "page not found".

Can you check the link for the WLan update, it takes me to an error page. Thge 2nd update takes me directly to the upload, which by the way, worked very well.
Thanks

Yeah... it's back now. I installed both. Not really sure why, but what the heck... No problems with the install. I even installed the WLAN update over WLAN activesync connection :).

BTW, is really an improvement on the signal strenght?
Talk about a difference!! WOW!!! I went from about 56% in my usual sitting place to 100% constant! (even with power management off) I was then able to get about 50% further away before loosing the signal. This made a HUGE difference. GO HP!!!

:( ie
I just tried to install the WLAN Update and it froze my device. For the past 10 minutes, I have been looking at a window that says "Installing HP IPAQ WLAN SP1" but it never makes any progress. Anybody else have this problem?

GREAT...
I have the frozen screen just like you, piperpilot.
Have you done anything since then? I have not touched my device yet...

I went ahead and did a soft reset on my device (since that Cancel button for the install was unresponsive).
I checked in the Remove Programs, and the update did not take.
I went ahead and did the Battery update, and it went smoothly.
My guess is the reason people have been seeing the WLAN update come and go on the HP site is that they might realize that there are issues with it freezing up devices... Just a guess...

Thanks God, that i din't do the Upgrade.. I don't want to have problems with my iPAQ rigth now :P
Maybe, that's why they keep taking off the web page where the Update File was... maybe they wasn't sure about the integrity of the update... Maybe
Edit: jejejeje.. we (Matt) say the same thing at the same time (you was first)

I guess I'm feeling a little reckless today!:drinking:
I went ahead and re-cradled my device, and tried the WLAN update again!
I received messages saying that it was already installed on the device, but I chose "install anyway", and this time, it went without a hitch...
Definitely, there are some glitches in the patch..
But it installed, so I'm happy.

When I got tired of watching the dialog box do nothing, I took my device out of the cradle and that action seemed to jump start the WLAN update to load, so all is well that ends well, I guess. I won't have a chance to test out the update until I get home tonight and access my WLAN there. Keeping my fingers crossed . . . .

I had the same problem on this update, and I did the same thing. Then I just turned the wifi ON, and reinstalled. I also did the battery fix. No problems. I noticed that the version numbers on the device wen to:
Software version: to 4.0.1.22 from 4.1.1.15
Driver version 2.2.2.50 from 2.2.2.36
Firmware version 0.90.5.149 from 0.90.5.149
This (plus the fact that I upgraded my Linksys 'G' firmaware to the latest firmware) DIDN't fix my not being able to get this to recognize that WAP. Oh well...
Good luck!!!

... Software version: to 4.0.1.22 from 4.1.1.15 ...
Did you type that correctly? They downgraded the software version with the patch? I have v4.0.1.14 before the patch, so I assume that 1 is a typo.

Yep, sorry, I didn't mean to scare everyone...It was indeed a typing error.
