Is it possible or is there an app that will allow you to place password protection on Pword docs?

It is not possible to put a password in Pword docs.
But you can encrypt them.
For example, with the freeware Lucifer (http://guinness.cs.stevens-tech.edu/~fpessaux/index_fr.html) or with Resco Explorer 2003 (http://www.resco-net.com).
You can read this french FaQ (http://ppcfaq.sorobangeeks.com/faq_90.html) for some details (with babelfish, for example).

Check out the "password protection for files or folders?" thread (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=90454), coincidentally posted 4 minutes before yours.
