Is there a way to password protect individual files or folder in Pocket PC 2002?

Thanks

PocketPC 2002 doesn't offer that possibility, but you can do it using third-party software.

Resco Explorer is considered the best file explorer on the market, and supports encryption. I find it a bit pricey though.

I know of a freeware that encrypts/decrypts files:Lucifer (http://guinness.cs.stevens-tech.edu/~fpessaux/#The_other_stuff_I_did) (scroll down to "Compaq Ipaq Programming")

is it possible to protect the whole folder not just a file?

As i know , Resco Explore can only encrypt a perticulular document. Under some circumstance, it is not convenient.

Check out F-Secure's FileCrypto (http://www.f-secure.com/wireless/pocketpc/pocketpc-fc.shtml). It seems to support fairly good encryption.

If you have an iPAQ 3800 series (and maybe the 3900 and 5400 series), it comes free on the CD.

Actually, my intention is just to protect a certain folder (such as personal photos)from being seen by the others,no matter take which method(encrypting or other way) .

I don't think this is complex. Are there any simply app to handle it?

I have tried the encryption function of Resco explorer, it is not convenient.

This isn't protection, but you could just hide them, by changing the properties. Then they are basically invisible, but unencrypted.

I'm just looking for something to encrypt my contacts folder. If I lose my PDA I don't want a serial killer stalking my friends and family. ( hell I'm in there too!) It would be nice if it did other files/folders but disueding the Pocket PC Contact Killer is my fist concern.

I think this might be what your looking for . If not why not use ewallet to store numbers and personal id's.
