I have a few Pocket PCs in use, so freeing up desk space is always a goal of mine. These cables are also wonderful for travelling!

What's the difference between this sync/charge cable versus the ones offered by PocketSolutions or by Moonlight Technologies or Belkin or miniSync? Is there any reason to pick one over another?

I'm also a fan of Gomadic sync/charge cables. I finally got rid of my power adapter and metal cradle. It's great for when I travel, since I have a laptop and can leave behind my pocket pc's power adapter. The car adapter also works great, since the cable attaches securely to the pocket PC.

Actually, there isn't a difference. They ARE Gomadic cables from PocketSolutions. PocketSolutions has been reselling Gomadic cables, both sync+power and Cell phone, as well as Seidio's car mounts. I bought a sync+power cable for my Axim a few weeks ago, and it works flawlessly.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that PocketSolutions resell the Gomadic cables.

What about Moonlight Technologies? They offer the charge/sync cable + car adapter + wall adapter for only $21.99. I'm both happy and skeptical about the low price for all 3 components. I just want to make sure that this thing won't fry my Axim in any way.

Dell Axim power adapter outputs more than 5 volts and USB can supply only 5V, then can you charge Axim using USB cable? Any idea?

EE was not my strong suit, but I can tell you that this cable works. I had a similar cable for my Audiovox Maestro, and it worked just fine.

Finally, it has been a strugle for Gomadic guys, I did pester them about this cable. I love their stuff and I hope it works as good as my iPAQ cable did.

Thanks for the savings Jason.

i know a bit off topic, but sort of related. but is it possible to create a usb host cable from the same port the sync cable plugs into?

It'll work well as long as the current draw isn't too heavy. For example, my notebook -- which is especially sensitive to USB draw -- charged a naked iPAQ fine, but an iPAQ plus PC Slider overloaded the port.

AFAIK, as long as the load on the port doesn't exceed the USB max (is it 500 mA?), the Axim will charge, albeit more slowly than with an adapter rated at the full voltage for the device. Make sense?
