:?:
I am looking for a 256SD card and ran a search on Froogle. I came up with a 256Lexar for just under $70. Sounds pretty good but was wondering if anyone had a better price. (Note: Shipping is an additional $9 so the over all total will be approx. $80)

it's pretty good for lexar, cheapest is sandisk. You could always wait until 512 become more common if it's too expensive I got my sandisk for around $80 after rebate 3 months ago

Go to the front page, in the PriceGrabber search type "256 sd". Most were under $70...

I recently purchased a 256mb SD card from Buy.com.
I ordered it via the Internat on Mon and had it delivered to my house by Thus. The cost including delivery was$67.00
:D
This is the first time I have used them and think that this is an excellent result.

Thanks to all. I totally forgot about price grabbers.
I have been using Froogle off and on so that was where I started.

About to take the plunge and trade up to a 256Mb SD card TODAY!! I ran across this and so far it seems like a heck of a deal.

Free shipping and a "free Cruzer" for $69.00. Although I can find slightly better deals on the memory by it's self the addition of the Cruzer I think makes this the best I've seen.
Q: I have a 128 Sandisk and have had no issues. I read everywhere that people have had probs with these and not so much the 256. Is that an overall accurate statement?

ive had problems with all of my secure digital cards in one way or another.
my first 256 card was a SanDisk and it didnt work. got it from buy.com and their return policy was very good. got the cruzer with a SanDisk from NeutronUSA and continue to have some problems with it (in fact i just had to use a different card to transfer some files :(
When transferring files to it i occassionally get checksum errors which prevent copying. there is memory card formating program that i need to download again and wipe the card out. the problem may turn out to be the reader on my desktop (i dont use the cruzer cartridge except on other machines and my laptops).

Which PPC are you using? If you're using a Toshiba, then there is a known issue between Toshiba PPCs and SanDisk SD cards.
If you're not using a Toshiba PPC, then I would either try the SD card with someone else's PPC or I'd try to borrow someone else's SD card (different brand) to see if the problem persists. Something is certainly defective.
As a side note, I (as well as a few posters here) try to avoid SanDisk when purchasing removable media. Lexar is probably the most popular alternative.
