Hey everyone,

My contract with Rogers is soon coming to an end, and I'm thinking of retiring my 8260. I was looking at the t68i, and thinking about how i can use it with my 3970 (and other applications).

Can anyone give me any comments about this phone??

Thanks

I love my t68i... Mine is an Adriatic Blue AT&T (US AT&T, not Rogers) that has been unlocked and that I use on T-Mobile USA. There are numerous complaints about the reception and sound quality of this phone, but my experience in both of these areas is VERY positive.

This is my fifth GSM phone, and remains my favorite. It has an excellent feature set with Bluetooth being my personal favorite... Try a t68i out, see if you like it...

My GSM phone progression:
Nokia 3390-->Ericsson R520m-->t68m-->T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone-->t68i

I agree on the T68i points -- I think it's a pretty solid phone. The reception is a litte weaker due to its internal antenna, but if you are in decent reception areas by all means go for it. If you're really worried about the T68i complaints, try picking it up from a place where you can return it just in case.

Do it! Do it! Do it! Very advanced phone even now. I haven't found a phone I'd trade mine out for yet. Only complaint (And in all fairness, NYC is hell on reception) is that indoors, it can be a bit of a weak phone. Otherwise, when outside of my brick building, not a single issue with signal.

Go ahead and get it. I finally put in my order for an unlocked T68i from the t-Mobile shop in my area. Can't wait for it to arrive. Played around with a friend's a while back and it was great. I wish I did it sooner. Now my wife will get my Sanyo 5150.

I got the T68i about a month ago and I really like it. I switched from a Motorola P280, which I also really liked. The only reason I switched was for the bluetooth capability, since I picked up the 5450 iPAQ.

When I first picked it up, I didn't really like the T68i because it is SO small. I found the buttons a little small for my fingers, and it seemed too small when I was using it. It took about a week to get used to though, and now I wouldn't go back.

The sound quality is pretty good. I've read conflicting reports on it, but I haven't had any problems. The Motorola had the best sound quality I've heard on a cell, and I find the T68i is close.

Bluetooth is the killer feature for me. Being able to connect without a cable or lining up infrared ports is great. I use my iPAQ far more than I did before because the email is actually live rather than delayed until the next sync. My Motorola phone had the GPRS but having to use infrared was a pain.

The only real issue I've had with the T68i is trying to get it to connect to my PC through bluetooth to download all my contacts, but I think it's more to do with my bluetooth dongle than the phone.

The best thing I can suggest is to pick one up to try it out if you can return it if not satisfied (I know Fido offers a money-back guarantee). Give it a week or so if you're not happy, though. It took me that long to get used to it.

what i find strange is that i am in the very same predicament. i am about to migrate to a t68i from a nokia 8260... with the exact same provider whose contract is about to expire. i wonder how many people also have a 8260 and have picked up (or will pick up) a t68i?

Great phone overall.
Reception is good not great but this is mostly impacted by location. If you normally get good reception from your service carrier, you should be fine.
Speaker is a little on the quiet side although I have a T68 that has been upraded to T68i and I believe the proper T68i's have an improved speaker so should be better.
Battery life is great, lasts for ages, even with Bluetooth.

I have a T68i, iPaq 5455, and the Jabra BT200 Wireless Headset. It's true the reception is a bit weaker that some of the Nokia's but overall I have not had any problems with reception or dropped calls. The bluetooth connection works flawlessly between the T68i and the Jabra BT200 and is so comfortable I sometimes forget I'm wearing it. The voice dialing works well for me (although I use spanish commands because they work better) and the reception is good enough that I put my cell phone near the window and walk around my apartment (and the neighbors) with only the wireless earpiece. Getting the 5455 working with T68i was not well documented but is working fine now. I use internet explorer, ICQ, Avantgo, and get email from anywhere. There are other cell phones I like much better but none have bluetooth and are as well supported. In general, if you think you will use bluetooth then get the T68i, otherwise find something with a better display, larger buttons, and a good WAP browser.

It's a piece of crap in my opinion. I returned mine to AT&T and so did two of my friends.

It would be cool if you could give some reasons you find the unit "a piece of crap" so `Helios could make a good decision.

An appeal to authority (many) is not a sufficient reason to take your word for it.

My opinion is negative too - but it's soooo subjective, you have to follow your own desires and accept subsequent compromises...

I am firmly in Nokia's camp I'm afraid, despite numerous forays into Motorola/Samsung/Ericsson/Sony territory - they are simply better phones all round - providing, of course, you can find one that meets your specification requirements at the right price - good luck with your choice!

I had one, traded it in, and bought another one after a month. It's one of the better phones I've owned, but I live in NYC. T-Mobile's coverage happens to be pretty good here.

Unfortunately, if you were to go with AT&T's Mmode service, you would probably hate it, as their GSM coverage in NYC sucks.

I would make sure, if you buy it, that you leave yourself a return option of some sort in case you don't like it. I love mine, but there are many differing opinions on this phone.

got mine free from amazon, loved it ever since. The reception is avg like everyone says, but everything about it rocks. its incrdibly small but still manages to outpute audible sound and picks up your voice with no problem. Customizing it and setting it up was a sinch too. I dumped all my phone numbers from my pda to the phone in one fell swoop. Quickly converted a nice wallpaper into the proper gif format and uploaded it, boom, unique wallpaper. I got a nifty unique (abit monophonic) ring tone free from the web too.

Im useing tmobile. I want to use its blue tooth but havnt found any cheap BT CF cards yet.

Not one negative thing to say about my T68i.. I use it in conjuction with Smart GSM 2.1 (http://www.smartsoftworks.com) on my Jornada 568 via Bluetooth. Perfect phone : small, light, great navigation through menu's .. No more No(t)kia for me !
