I'm a newcomer to PPC (converted from Palm OS, just ordered the Dell Axim :D ); Could someone point me to good, stable software that will help me get started? Thanks!

Pocket Informant and MoneyBox (http://www.geocities.com/caitcif) are two things I use a lot and definitely recommend.

Here's what I have on my Axim right now:

It all works perfect and stable, after having different PPC's over the last three year's I finaly have a stable one that works almost perfect...

Here's another vote for Wisbar. Another can't-live-without app is Pocket Informant (Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion do pretty much the same thing, and both have trial periods, so you might want to try them both out before you decide on one). You should try to find one or two games that you like, too. Egghead is a free game and it's lots of fun.

One word of advice: never pay for any software that doesn't have a trial period. Always try it before you pay for it to see if it's to your liking and to make sure it runs well on your machine.

here is a list that may be helpful to you, although it is rather old http://www.writingonyourpalm.net/column010924.htm

the only thing I would add is uBook (http://www.gowerpoint.com), which frankly, is the best ebook reader available for any PDA. Period.

If you are big into word processing, yes PPC does have a competitor to WordSmith, it is called TextMaker (http://www.softmaker.de)

No reason at all. There pretty much the same thing right?

Yeah, so far as I can see... but I see that the Icbar can skin the command line to. Any experience with that?

PocketBlinds do that to, but it turns the PPC into a slowmobile.. (OK, gettin' off-topic here ;-))

That's new to Icbar I think. The next version of Pelmar WISBar will also have this functionality, though I don't know when it will be available.
