I just came back from watching the Iditarod re-start in Fairbanks and watching the mushers come through the Nenana Check-Point. I was wondering if people from other states (and other countries) follow the race. Dog Mushing is my state's official sport and I have friends who run dogs so I follow the race pretty closely. If you would like more information on what the Iditarod is go here. (http://www.iditarod.com/index.shtml)

Give a hand and root for Cali (http://www.iditarod.com/kingcali.shtml)!

I voted no because I don't really follow the race. I know quite a bit about it, though -- it was created to commemorate getting medicine to Nome, Alaska, and multiple winners include Susan Butcher and Martin Buser. (I hope I got those names right, as I'm doing this from memory.)

Can't say that I follow it exactly, but I do know what it is and noted the start this year by checking out the webcam that looks down on the starting area. http://camera.touchngo.com/

I have traveled to Anchorage and stayed in the hotel that you can see in the background of the webcam, the Anchorage Hilton, I believe. When I was there I walked over to see the statue of the Huskey. Doesn't that denote the start of the race?

Always had a hankering to live up there, but probably never will.

Didn't you find it amusing that while over half the nation was blanketed in one of the largest snowfalls in years....they didn't have enough snow to run the race at it's usual place?

Yeah it's been a weird winter, I hate it. I was so jealous when I would watch TV and see that you were getting all of the snow.

My 9 year old daughter has a GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) class Tuesday afternoons. It's a computer class, but the topic of the class is:
IDITAROD - The Great Race
The watched some of it yesterday and made dog sleds out of popsicle sticks. Don't ask me what that has to do with computers. They are going to keep track via internet of the race at www.iditarod.com.
