The problem was, though, that the CF camera didn't quite work in the extra-deep CF slot of the new Dell Axims.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/adrian/veo_cam.jpg" /><br /><br />As a result, Veo has redesigned the camera so it now works with the Dell Axim. As digicams go, it's pretty standard fare:<br /><br />• 640 X 480 resolution<br />• Takes 24-bit full color photos<br />• Weighs 0.8-ounces<br />• Size: 2.75 in. X 1.25 in. X 1-in.<br />• 180-degree swivel head<br />• Includes Pocket PC thumbnail viewer software<br /><br />If you've been looking for a digicam for your Dell Axim (or any other Pocket PC with a CF slot), you can purchase the Photo Traveler <a href="http://www.veo.com/Traveler_PocketPC/default.asp">directly from the Veo site </a> for $99.95.

Would this camera be better than the HP model for my Jornada 568?

Does anyone know if someone has done a head-to-head of the different models? I have looked but haven't found one.

TIA,

Nik

This camera needs a type 2 CF slot - no good for the Jornada unless you have the battery with a pc card slot and an adapter...

Or an Atek CF Pocket adapter (http://www.atek.com/CF_pocket.htm)...

How many images can this take using a 128 meg SD card?

How does it look in a ipaq 3835 with the cf adapter/extrabattery/cover thingie?

I just got this camera for my iPAQ. While its no Kodak DC3400 (my main digital camera), it does take reasonably nice pictures for their size under office lighting conditions. The manual states A color Pocket PC with 6MB free memory can hold:
Over 300 Full Size color images (Best Quality) or
Over 600 Medium size color images (Best Quality) or
Over 1500 Small size color images (Best Quality) or
Over 2 minutes of color movie captures

So whatever that all means.

Thats the first pic I ever took with the camera, so you can get an idea of what it does. My ipaq is in the cradle with the camera rotated 180. Not the best pic, but hey, I think I got my $99 worth. I'll be using it mostly to take snapshots of print/text from books/magazines and whatnot and it works good enough for that.

The video clips are decent, and you can convert them to .avi with the included software for the PC.

If anyone has any more information about this camera, especially what other programs it works with, I'd really like to hear from you. I'm hoping to get some help getting it to work with MS Portrait, which currently does not support this camera. As it is I have to use a Semens CF to PC Card converter in a PC Card to CF converter to get enough room to use my WiFi card and the camera at the same time.
