Jornada 548 does a hard reset ever time the reset button is pressed

I have a Jornada 548, and every time I press the reset button to do a soft reset, it does a hard reset. This is extremely difficult considering after I restore from a backup I need to reset my device. Could it be that the power button is stuck down? How difficult is it to disassemble and check out the internals for a problem? Thanks for any assistance in this matter.

Are you sure you don't have a battery problem anyway.

Have you tried one of the software reset programs? Look for SoftReset on handango. Don't know if this is much different than poking the hole, but it's a shot.
