Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

This solves one of my problem. I refused to spend over $100 dollar for an electronic metronome. There are metronome apps for Pocket PC. The only problem is that even the highest volume setting on my Axim is still not loud enough

If this works, Ha! How dare Seiko tries to charge so much for a small machine that just blinks and beeps.

drop, I don't understand how this is going to help. AFAICT, it will give you finer-grained volume control, not more than the maximum volume as it is...

And is it just me, or is the abbreviated/IM-speak a little cliche? :?

I pass, my vol is on max or 3/4 most of the time anyways. Other than that, WMP and withMP3 allow finetuning the volume so I don't think I need this utility.

No, it isn't just you.

And it is certainly enough to put me off considering it any further!

I like how they capitalize "U". It makes me feel special inside. Like we are friends on chat, and my friend is pitching me some software... hey wait a minute!

Anyway, I'm going to try it to see if it helps my iPAQs low volume settings. I usually have the volume set to one click above mute and its still pretty loud, especially with headphones.

And, you can skin it. The traffic signal skin looks kinda cool... and of course there are the obligatory "a bunch of shots of some hot chick" skins also. Skins (http://www.rweclear.com/skins.htm)

I think that the freeware SoundToday (my french review here : http://ppcf.mklabs.com/index.php?soft=678 ) can give access to the same volume levels...

I'd be interested to know if this app improves the anemic volume level of the 5400 series iPAQ. Its speaker volume is so pathetic that its nearly impossible to hear in the car while driving.

(The placement of the headphone jack on the bottom of the unit is giving me some problems with my RoadWriter cradle and keyboard in my car. (see the review I wrote on The Gadgeteer (http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/roadwriter-review.html).) Until I can resolve this issue by making modifications to the RoadWriter myself, or until revolv Design decides to surface on the web again, I've got a serious issue...)

I just had headphones with built in volume control (sony sells some). Better this way since I don't have to take my iPaq of out my pocket to adjust the volume when I'm listening to mp3's.

I just downloaded and installed the trial version of this app.

This is just my opinion; but I wouldn't bother with this app. It didn't give my speaker any kind of volume boost at all. My music didn't play any louder than before after going thru the Speaker Calibration routine that this app has.

it doesn't do ANYTHING as an amplifier; but its a good volume control app. However, since every Pocket PC comes with a built in volume control in the Today page, and the 5455 has a dedicated hardware button, paying $3.99 for this kind of app just doesn't make sense to me.

Anyone see something that I've missed..?

It seems that the software does exactly what it is designed to do. I did not see that they promised a volume boost, merely more control over the sound that was already there. Possibly some people would like to have more of a choice in the level of the volume. I am not really interested in an app of this nature but I don't think that it should be criticized because it does not do things that it was not designed to do. It was designed as a fine tuner and not an amplifier.

Speaking of hardware volume control, is there any software or setting that will allow me to adjust the volumen on my Jornada 567 via a hardware button? That would be great!

Volume on the 3630s have been an issue ever since PPC2002. I have even installed the patch from HPompaq and not gotten relief.

I downloaded the 15 day trial of RWC Volume and have been using it for 5 minutes. I will be buying this one! Setup was easy and now I can listen to my MP3s with my ear buds without going deaf! Great piece of software. Delivers as promised.

Interesting application. For $4 it isn't all that bad considering what the app does. Giving finer control of your audio is always a good thing. Esp. when you pipe it into your car's stereo system.

I'm buying this. Just to have the skinned volume control is worth it to me. I'm going to make a lightsaber skin where the lightsaber blade goes up as you turn the volume up. It'll go well with the Vader theme I found.

Oh, and it does help the iPAQs unbearable loudness for me.

I would say the 3600/3700 iPaqs are the single platform for which this application is invaluable. I remember those days, my ears used to bleed even at the very lowest WMP setting.

Well I have an iPAQ 3660 and after recently 'upgrading' to a pair of Sony street style headphones (no volume control) have found the sound very loud.

I'm currently trying this little app but can't seem to notice much difference - even on level 1 it's still quite loud.

Tim, if you're running PPC 2002, did you install this patch (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/download/13909.html)? Not sure if it's designed to run with the 2.20 ROM though.

I don't know if it's going to happen. HP is using an all-in-one codec chip with built in speaker and headphone amps which puts out very next to nothing as far as power. The company who makes the chip sent me the engineering specs on the part because it's not availble on thier site for download. I told the engineer about the low volume problem and he said he would try to help resolve it  .

Thanks for the link. Don't have to open WM Player to fine tune the volume any more.

The screenies indicate the control covering the New menu on the Today screen. Can this be configured somewhere, or does it cover the menu regardless?

How does it work, considering the translation?

No, I didn't - but I have now, and it does the job. Thanks Janak :)
