I know you can change your MAC address in Windows nt/2000/xp by editing the registry. Is there also a way to do this on PocketPC?

I'm almost afraid to ask this: why do you want to change your MAC???

To antoni: The link you gave seems to say how to find your MAC, I can do that, I want to change it.

One reason for wanting to change your MAC is if the AP is filtering by MAC address.

Why not just add your MAC to the filter so you can access the AP?

You're trying to spoof a MAC aren't you. I sincerely hope you are just playing, hacking into your own AP...

No real plans, just what to see if it's possible.

Well, I found a registry entry that contains my MAC (\HKLM\Comm\PRISMNDS1\Params\NetWorkAddress) but changing it does not seem to change the real MAC.

Not surprisingly, the cards MAC address is hardcoded in the hardware and cannot be changed. Spoofing it takes place in the network software.

Yes, there is a MAC burned into the card, but many OSs will let you change the MAC to something else, for example Windows NT/2000/XP (even 9x i think) and Linux.

Here's one "legitimate" reason so we can keep this nice. :)

If you have multiple wireless-enabled devices and you want to minimize administrative overhead, and you don't use them simultaneously, you can assign them all the same MAC address. This has the added benefit of getting the same DHCP lease/IP address.
