ERROR 666 on my my 5450 ... Evil Ipaq!

On a daily basis now (or so it seems) I get the following error when connecting my 5450 to my laptop via USB.

Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. Remote Networking could not start due to a critical error (Error 666)

Please reconnect your device if the problem persists, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufacturer

I ran the error through Microsofts online knowledge base as well as TechNET, but neither came up with a hit. I have to do a soft reset when this happens in order to connect to my PC.

Does anyone have any info on why this happens, and how I can prevent it?

I've seen this happen because I was dialed-in to my corporate LAN via mode, and I've also seen it happen because I was running a firewall (ZoneAlarm).

If you run a firewall like ZA, BlackIce, Norton, etc., try terminating the application and try the sync again... once I actually had to uninstall ActiveSync entirely, then reinstall and it worked fine (and has for several months now).
