Does anyone have a strong proof of evidence of when the hybrid Pocket PC Phone Edition iPAQ will be released and the version number it will brand? Estimated price and specifications would be appreciated as well; also too, whether or not it will use the well known "sleeves."

DsneFmly,
While understanding your eagerness to know - if anyone had the information you were after it would already be front page news on this and many other PDA sites!

Indeed, I've seen photographs and the like on www.infosync.no, but never bothered to delve further into knowing "specifics." I thought perhaps someone would have some information and didn't realize that it had not been released. I had heard that it was to be a GPRS handheld with the same features as those currently out now (bioscanner, WiFi, etc.) and the photographs seemed to confirm it. The photographs had/have been on many websites already; for quite sometime actually, and thought that the information had already followed suite... I suppose not. :?

...and don't post with a title like "New iPAQ" - you'll get us all over-excited thinking you've got some news!

No - currently there is nothing confirmed at all.
Some details - the pictures you have seen, the fact that '5600' has been seen as an option on the HP support site, the fact that there is a SIM card slot on the 5450 etc. - give strong evidence for the nature of this coming iPAQ - but plans change and nothing has been confirmed or announced yet by HP. That is unless some people know but are under NDAs!
It may even be that the GPRS iPAQ is released in Europe first - the HP 928 and the iPAQ GPRS sleeves were not released in the USA...

Latest indications that is has been shelved. No real evidence, just a concensus.

I just came across a reference to this article from February 10, stating that HTC, makers of the XDA and older IPAQs are going to be producing the new IPAQ, in volume during the second half of the year after winning back the contract from LG Electronics.

Maybe it's just me, but if this new device has an itegrated keyboard like the pictures that are floating around, I would personally rather see more screen "real estate", and do away with all of that surface area provided for buttons on the face of the device! What a waste of precious space!
It's like the Toshibas - they waste a lot of space too...
