Dream Devise (For Me)

Basic Fast Processor at the time (xScale right now)
Transflective 4" display (Great for indoors and outdoors)
Casio Old School button layout (Yea)
Beefy Battery, like 1650 MaH or so, user replacable
Look and feel of 3800/3900 series ipaq. if possible, 1910 :)
Sleeve expansion, but has built in BT and SD slot.
Maby higher res display
128 Ram/64 Rom (Upgradable!) no NAND
That is all I can think of right now, what is YOUR dream devise?

same like yours, only with additional wireless conectivity which is popular at the time, and the new atomic battery, so I don't have to recharge that thing for 10 years or so.

Here is my input

- 802.11g built in wifi
- stronger IR port
- NO BUGS, HARD RESETS, OR FREQUENT LOCKUPS (even though most soft resets are caused by bad software.)

Unfortunatly, we will see no 128mb pocket pcs until the new os is out. The reason that ppcs are still 64mb is because ppc 2002 wont recognize more than 64mb ram.

Done. :)

BTW, I think Jonno had a thread like this a few months ago...

Oh, and don't forget the 640x480 display. :)

Mmm... lemme see...

XScale w/proper bus
2 SD card slots (sdio)
old casio button setup
Transflective with good cleartype support
Look of Hp Jornada 56x but slimmer (ipaq is too flashy for me)
Looooooooooonnnnng, strong batt life
PPCPE
64mb ram
add on cf
gotta have a jog dial, man!
stowaway & thumb board available
good mp3/wma/ogg support - aka Ipaq
xscale enhanced os
built in wifi/bt
removable batt- aka jornada
addon battpack dvd reader
changeable screen resolution

(Rubs paws)
User-replaceable batteries
Battery bridge
USB 2 host and client, backwards compatable with USB 1
Actual USB drivers
Water-resistant (I'd even go as far as those rugged win ce .net ones, with rubber coating)
Scratch-resistant screen
240x320 resolution
48 MB RAM (More would just be a waste, since I use SD for storage)
Latest XScale CPU (Over and under clocking for saving power is lovely)
SDI/O slot (I looked at the e740, and the compactflash slot made it a bit too thick for me)
Flash ROM
Company that supports device with latest EUU# for multiple years.
IRDA port
Jostle-proof battery switch.
Pocket PC Phone OS
... and a camera with flash.

I'd just use Sandisk's future Wifi+storage SD card.

Jornada 56x form factor or smaller with flip cover
new XScale chip i.e. 200mhz bus
dual expansion slots (SDIO and CFII)
Transflective screen
Built in Bluetooth and WiFi
Long battery life

All based on current technology

Hardware of Dell(Advanced), including battery life and awesome screen
Better D-Pad! Or a snap-on joystick attachment.
Built in Bluetooth.
Size and cuteness of hp1910 :)
Flip screen cover!!!!!!!!! I want to carry the damn thing in my pocket without being paranoid!

Oh and I almost forgot my biggest desire for a ppc--USB ports! Gee wouldn't it be nice if all PPCs had a universal connector port so that peripherals like keyboards could be usable by all models? Wouldn't it be nice if you could connect your desktop keyboard to the PPC when you're at home? Or a printer? Etc etc etc.

Anyone else think the small joystick from the Sony Ericsson T68i mobile phone would work great on a Pocket PC?

Could be an idea there... although I worry how it would be for extended periods of usage. The N64 always numbed my thumbs for days on end when I used it's joy-pad. The T68i joystick is slightly different, though.

I personally like the Maestro's d-pad. It works fine, and it's easy on the fingers.

As for adding on to the list, has anybody mentioned an integrated metal flip cover? That would be awesome. Also, rubber grips, depending on the style of the device. Fast IR is quite desireable also.

I would take 1 sdio slot if my dream card was created

512mb sd card combo with wifi and a 1600x1200 camera

Actually, I would give up the wifi for a camera/memory card. Most important item on my dream machine - expandibility.

That's why I like the Jornada form so much with it's flip cover and rubber side strips.....
