I have a 3850 and a PC Card sleeve with battery. I use SD cards for memory and the PC Card sleeve for peripherals like modem and Wi-Fi cards. Recently, I've also been using a Canon Ixus digital camera that uses CF cards to store pictures. I thought it would be the easiest thing to be able to load my pictures from my camera into the iPaq using a CF to PC card adaptor. I tried one out in a store (some unknown brand) it fit perfectly but the iPaq wouldn't recognize the CF card at all even after doing a soft reset and searching all around File Explorer. There were other branded adaptors available (Transcend) but I couldn't test them as they were in sealed packs. I also tried using a Kodak SD-to-CF adaptor with my camera but it wouldn't work because I couldn't close the CF door with it and my camera won't turn on with the door open. Also, that adaptor costs twice as much as the PC-to-CF, and I might as well get a CF sleeve for that price. But I really want to be able to use CF cards with my iPaq without having to get a new sleeve.

I have a Canon S100 Digital Elph, and my iPAQ 3870 has the dual PC Card sleeve. I can see the files on the Elph's CF card just fine when I put it in my CF-to-PC Card adapter. I was even able to view photos on the card.

As we have a similar setup, I don't know what your problem is, unless the Ixus formats the card differently.

What brand is your CF card? I remember having problems with a Lexar CF card before... it worked in the digital camera, but not the PDA.

Its branded as Canon, it came with the camera. How can I be sure that my problem is with how the card is formatted, and how can I get around that? It doesn't even show that the sleeve has anything in it.

Hmm. It really should work: all digital cameras I know of use FAT.

Do you have a laptop you can try it in? It's possible the card has some corruption which the camera doesn't notice... and a laptop is usually the best way to debug this.
