You can find Quicktime movie players (.mov) here:
http://www.bitbanksoftware.com/PQV.html
and another one is here:

Thanks for the link. I didn't know that there was a QuickTime player for PPC. This will be good to take some of my media with me as a quarter of my video is QuickTime.

PQV is designed to run the AVI and MOV (Quicktime) movies produced by digital cameras - as an extension of its other image viewing and manipulation features.

For playing ALL types of MOV files the only software I'm aware of is PictPocket Cinema - a (in my opinion) rather poor piece of software that, none-the-less, does play MOV files.

If you want free - then the roundabout route is:

1) Convert MOV to AVI - http://www.dvdrhelp.com/mov2avi.htm

2) Convert AVI to MPEG - using TMPGenc (not sure what the up to date link is - try www.pocketmovies.net for it...

or

3) Convert AVI to WMV - using Windows Media Encoder 7.1 (from the MS site)

or

4) Convert MOV to DivX - http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/mov2avi.htm

or

5) For $30 you could buy Quicktime Pro - 8O - and convert MOV to just about anything!

None of the 'free' methods is without hassles - and not all MOV files can be handled.

For playing MOV video on your PPC you really are stuck with a choice of an expensive and poor piece of software OR a cheaper, excellent piece of software that is designed for playing digicam MOV footage. BTW - this is not a weakness of PQV. Digital cameras tend to record video in a different way - as a series of JPEGs. AVI on a digicam is, for example, MJPEG (motion JPEG) rather than MPEG.

Given time I think PQV might well support ALL MOV files - but Larry Bank, the developer, seems to prize speed and quality of his product over features - so it may be a while...

I should have been clearer - what I meant was - because QT Pro can convert to AVI it can effectively enable you to convert to anything. Sadly that means having to use QT Pro - which I loathe (damn pop-ups).

I use the PQV viewer and it works great for all my .mov files from my digital camera. I have a Sony Cybershot digital camera that uses the memory stick format to save small video files as .mov. I simply upload them to my PC, transfer to my CF or SD card and open them on my 5455 with PQV. No problems, no converting, no additional programs just good movies on the PPC.
