A friend is interested in trying to program a PPC2002 sw. He would like to know if there's a PPC2002 emulator for desktop windows, since he doesn't have a PPC right now, but would like to get started.

the last thing i heard there is no such thing.

there are "emulators" that let you test an application while it's still being developed, as in not yet compiled for the ppc.

once the app has been compiled it can only be run on the ppc itself.

but like i said, that was the last thing i heard.

The emulator is part of evb/evc. For PPC2k2 development you will need to download the ppc2k2 sdk and approperate rom image for your language. These emulators are not real emulators (as in running arm code on x86), they are virtual machines running the x86 CE kernel. It is still better to test on a real device if possible.

Whenever someone asks a question like this, there's always a lot of confusion about the "emulator" that exists in evb/evc. It is an OS emulator only. It does not emulate the hardware or anything else.
